Butter Beer

The Holidays always get me sentimental about beers of Holidays past. With the glut of 2-Row that I have, I wanted to re-create a favorite to see how the different grains affect the flavor. The 2-row I ground up and it smelled like marshmallows and bread. Good grain makes good beer, I intend to find out. I used 1 oz of Styrian Golding hops at 45 minutes and then used Saaz at 10 minutes, changing the flavor from previous versions. I’m interested in the change. SafAle 05 yeast always gets me a great result. I am confident I will get a great result.

Butter Beer

It’s that time again already. I re-brewed this beer due to popular demand. I will be bottling this beer and saving most of it to impress my friends. I used 1 oz of Styrian Golding hops at the beginning and then used Saaz at flameout, changing the flavor a bit. SafAle 05 that has been washed from the original batch of Butter Beer. Starting to re-use my yeast and see if that helps make my beer cheaper and more streamlined.

We Can Fly

I was inspired on a trip to San Diego for a wedding and thought I would try to make something new. This recipe is a cream ale with peanut flavoring added. The first, but not the last iteration of a new expression of creativity. I can’t wait to keep trying this one and making a new tasty beer. Cluster and Saaz hops for some mild flavor.

3 Broomsticks

This recipe is a direct clone of the butter beer I made earlier. I renamed it to continue the Wizard theme. Butter beer is a caramel flavored cream/blonde ale with tons of oats. Hefty amounts of Maris Otter and Golden Promise malts give this beer a nice malty flavor. This time I used EKG and Vanguard hops instead of Saaz. I am interested in how it turns out with these hops.

Butter Beer

A lovely beer I copied from a local brewery after they stopped making it. I really missed it and I think I will be making a lot more for the Christmas season after this trial attempt. I was very happy with the result and I hope that the following batches will be just as good. Made with .5 oz of Saaz at 60 and 45 with Styrian Golding at 30 mins in the boil. After boil gravity came to 1.065.

I had planned to put a generous amount of vanilla beans in this beer. However, when I tasted it, the flavor shocked me and I just went with it. Turned out great. Used campden tablets to ensure the flavor was on point. Vanguard hops gave it a smooth flavor.
