I was privileged enough to partner with a local water company and get some RO water for my brew. Free anything is much appreciated in these times. So I used some free Ale yeast from my local brew club to hit two birds with one stone. I also changed up the recipe to make this a little less roasty with only 1 lb of Special B. I will be adding the hops at the usual time 45 and 20 minutes. Chinook and Simcoe are the hops used to make this a great drinking Red Ale sure to please.

A good red ale recipe never goes out of fashion. The name is a reference to Bertrand Russell and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. I happen to like the South Park use when Cartman has a joke played on him. Either English or Irish depending on the hops, so I am told. This version is English with East Kent Golding hops. Well loved in the past, this is another classic recipe to drink during the hot summer days when light beer tends to lose it’s limited flavor. This brewed very quick and I had no issues getting it into the fermenter and bubbling nicely.

I have wanted to brew for a long time and I haven’t had the time. I recently found out that one of my favorite beers was not going to be reproduced and I felt it was my duty to try and see how I could brew it myself. Chinook hops were added at 1oz at 75, and .5 at 60, 45, 30, and 15. I changed up my recipe with English Pale Malt and Crystal 120 for a lighter flavor. Oak Staves will be added to the fermentation and placed into the keg afterwards for good measure. I feel worthy.

I have made several versions of this and I wanted to make a new spin on an old favorite. Chinook hops were added at 1oz at 75, and .5 at 60, 45, 30, and 15. The hops are why this is a very bitter and the special b really make for a roasty re-thinking of the recipe. Be worthy.

Better Red Than Dead https://winwinbrewery.com/better-red-than-dead/ Fri, 19 Apr 2019 18:05:31 +0000 https://winwinbrewery.com/?p=166 This Irish red ale is a traditional Irish red from the ones we have brewed before. We wanted to do something more traditional to try and find a baseline and build from there.

I collaborated with a few friends on this beer in my garage. This led to a lengthy consideration of malts and hops. Hearty discussions can make a good beer, most of the time. Since I was brewing the beer, I had final say until the hops got dropped in. EKG, Fuggles and Willamette.

The first of the I See Red Ale and not the last. We chopped up the recipe we got from brewers friend and it turned out amazing. So many notes we banged heads together in the home brew shop and battled like maniacs. EKG, Fuggles and Willamette. The hop schedule was an on the fly kind of thing. We had the previous beer weighing in on our decisions and they might have not been as pure as we previously thought them through. The last of the triple brew day marathon beers and one of the best. They all came out pretty good.

I moved into a new condo and made this beer from a kit. I had been wanting to brew more beer and get into all grain brewing. This is where it started with a kit and my weird neighbor I began brewing with. This really kicked it off and I want to make a brew blog so I can track my beer. I used to brew a lot with Mr. Beer and I used kits with extracts and it made it a lot of fun. With around 6 brews under my belt from that a few years earlier, I want to get more beer brewing.
